Council of the EU
The Council is expected to agree "general approaches" on a number of legislative proposals. A general approach is a political agreement reached within the Council before the European Parliament has determined its own position on the issue.
The proposals concerned are:
- a revision of the 2003 directive on the reporting of occurrences that could endanger aviation safety
- a recast of the 2008 directive on the interoperability of the EU rail system.
- two directives which are part of the " roadworthiness package" presented by the Commission in July 2012.
- a revision of the 1998 directive on the rules applicable to marine equipment to be placed on EU ships
In addition, the Council will take note of the state of play regarding the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), the future funding instrument for the trans-European networks in the transport, energy and telecommunications sectors (
A presidency briefing, agenda and background note will be published on the Council website closer to the date of the meeting.
