The following points will be discussed at this session of the Environment Council:

• the proposal for a regulation on ship recycling (orientation debate);
• preparation for the 18th session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the 8th session of the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol, which will take place in Doha (Qatar), from 26 November to 7 December 2012 (conclusions);
• follow-up to the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (conclusions).

The presidency will hold a press briefing in the Council press room in Brussels, on Wednesday 24 October at 14.30. A press conference will take place at the end of the meeting.
