The Council, chaired by EU High Representative Catherine Ashton, will discuss the situation in the EU's southern neighbourhood, in particular in Syria, and developments regarding the Middle East Peace Process.
The Council is also expected to debate the relations with the United States of America during President Obama's second term as well as the preparations for the summit with Russia on 21 December.
Furthermore, the Council is expected to prepare the EU-Brazil summit and the summit between the EU and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), to take place in Santiago de Chile on 26 and 27 January 2013.
From 20.00, ministers will hold a dinner to celebrate the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to the EU, scheduled for the same day.
