The theme of the event is how citizens can have an influence in the European Union. The new citizens' initiative will be one of the subjects debated. The programme includes visits to schools and workplaces and an open forum. MEPs Anneli Jäätteenmäki, Sirpa Pietikäinen, Mitro Repo, Petri Sarvamaa and Sampo Terho will contribute.

The background:

The purpose of the tour of Finnish regions as part of 'EU and You' is to increase dialogue with citizens about how the EU affects their everyday lives. The focus is on EU-issues with a special focus on individual regions and what the local regional population thinks and feels about the EU.
