The Council will be called on to reach a general approach on revised capital requirement rules (socalled CRD IV) with a view to initiating negotiations with the European Parliament. These concern:

- a proposal for a regulation on prudential requirements for credit institutions and investment firms, and

- a proposal for a directive on the access to the activity of credit institutions and the prudential supervision of credit institutions and investment firms and amending directive 2002/87/EC on the supplementary supervision of credit institutions, insurance undertakings and investment firms in a financial conglomerate.

The presidency and the Commission will report to the Council on the main outcomes of the G20 finance ministers' and central bank governors' meeting and the IMF spring meetings in Washington on 20-22 April 2012.

The presidency will hold a press briefing in the Council press room a few days before the meeting.
A press conference will take place at the end of the meeting.
