The High-Level People to People Dialogue aims at enhancing cultural relations and expanding people-to-people exchanges between Chinese and European citizens.  It is a platform for dialogue, discussion and exchange of ideas.

Androulla Vassiliou, the EU Commissioner for education, culture, multilingualism and youth, will attend the event and deliver the opening remarks. The Chinese delegation will be headed by State Councillor Liu Yandong.

2012 is the EU-China Year of Intercultural Dialogue. The Year is expected to contribute to mutual understanding as well as to policymaking in the fields it covers, i.e. culture, education, research, exchanges between intellectuals, multilingualism and youth). The EU-China High-Level People-to-People Dialogue is built on two previous cooperation agreements: the High-Level Economic and Trade Dialogue and the High-Level Strategic Dialogue.
