The Council, chaired by EU High Representative Catherine Ashton, is expected to discuss the situation in Burma/Myanmar after the by-elections on 1 April, developments in Bosnia/Herzegovina as well as events in Syria and Afghanistan. During lunch, ministers will first debate the Middle East peace process. The High Representative will then brief ministers about the negotiations with Iran concerning its nuclear programme, scheduled for 14 April in Istanbul.
A background briefing will be held in the Council press room in Brussels on 20 April at 10.30.
A press conference will take place at the end of the meeting.
