Short-term priorities:

Assessment (November 2003)

Please refer to the fact sheets on the adoption of the Community acquis.

Medium-term priorities:

  • regular examination of the joint assessment of the priorities of economic policy under the Europe Agreement, emphasising adherence to the Copenhagen criteria on membership of the European Union and Community legislation in economic and monetary policy (coordinating economic policies, introducing convergenceprogrammes, fighting excessive deficits);
  • the Czech Republic will have to adopt policies for attaining real convergence according to the European Union's objectives on economic and social cohesion and a nominal convergence compatible with the ultimate objective - adoption of the Euro. However, the Czech Republic will not be obliged to adopt the Euro immediately on accession.

Assessment (November 2000)

These priorities have not registered any progress.
