The MEDEA special prize for Educational Media Encouraging Active Ageing, set up to coincide with the European Year 2012, has been won by the initiative “All that Jazz”, developed by Fundación Universidad Carlos III and professor Raúl Jiménez, Spain.
The award was announced on November 14th during the MEDEA Awards Ceremony which took place in Brussels as part of the Media & Learning Conference.
“All that Jazz” is part of a lifelong learning course for seniors taught by professor Raúl Jiménez during the 2011-12 school year in which he used video, audio, face to face classes, presentations, DVD, as well as a class blog.
The MEDEA awards recognise excellence in the use of media to support learning. In each edition the competition includes a series of awards linked to specific categories. In 2012, as a commitment to the European Year, the organising committee has granted a special prize to the best educational media entry promoting Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations.
French entry “Quand la colère fait tomber les masques” won the Professional Production Award and Greek entry “And the Oscar goes to... “ the User-Generated Award.
