On the 13th June an inter-generational event in the framework of generations@school was held at St Thomas More Primary School at M’Skala, Malta.
On this occasion, Mario Galea, Parliamentary Secretary for the Elderly and Community Care, distributed to the participating children a book entitled “In-Nannu nesa x’Jisimni” (Grandpa forgot my name).
Mario Galea commented that children often feel lost when they confront dementia and many times have no idea how to react to it. The book aims to help young students understand dementia and answer questions related to the theme.
The book's author, Trevor Żahra, was also present and participated in the intergenerational reading and discussion session. One of the central themes touched upon was the issue of solidarity between generations.
