The well-known German actress Uschi Glas visited the primary school Grundschule am Ravensburger Ring in Munich on June 22nd in the frame of the generations@school project. During the visit, Glas and other active seniors from the BrotZeit non-profit organisation prepared a rich breakfast for children from over 30 different nations.
After breakfast, they all sat together around the senior guests and engaged in a cheerful conversation about the importance of a healthy nutrition and the differences about schools nowadays and in the past. Afterwards they took music instruments and performed and sang songs together.
The aim of the event, part of the European Year for Active Ageing programme, was to foster a better understanding between younger and older people and encourage generations to find ways to build a better future together.
Uschi Glas, an Ambassador for the German Year Against Age Discrimination declared by the German Anti-discrimination Agency (ADS), is also one of the founding members of BrotZeit e.V. Created in 2008 by Glas, her husband Dieter Hermann, and other committed friends, the organisation is actively involved in the promotion of solidarity between generations. Among other activities, its senior volunteers participate in the preparation of healthy meals for schools and also help young students with their homework.
