smartSENIOR school in Warsaw

smartSENIOR is a project launched in 2012 in Warsaw to counteract digital exclusion among 60+. The initiative is based on workshops where participants are taught the basics of the Internet, the use of social tools, how to use online banking, security measures, etc.

Between 50 and 70 old people will participate in these courses, designed to break down all possible psychological barriers. In fact, a Psychologist and a Lawyer are part ot the team involved in the teaching, in order to make seniors feel confortable with new technologies and overcome the digital gap.

The project started on 1 November 2012 and will continue until 30 June 2013, implemented by Ja Kobieta in collaboration with the Warsaw-Ursynow District Social Aid Centre and the Little brothers of the Poor Warsaw.

Other projects implemented by Ja Kobieta (the Foundation for Women’s Issues in Poland) are:

  • The SuperGrandma and SuperGrandpa schools- The NGO offers classes in Warsaw and Lublin to grandparents on topics related to the psychology of children, basic safety rules, how to manage the daughter-in-law and mother-in-law relationship, etc.
  • Finances for 50plus - Iintensive courses in which senior participants learn how to manage their finances, a budget, how to save money and prepare for when they are retired.
 
Promotor: Foundation for Women’s Issues

The Foundation's main goal is to counter-act stereotypes and age discrimination in order to create a better society. The Foundation is also very persistent in bringing new technologies into the lives of elderly people in Poland.
