Seniors at Work (Seniori Työssä) is a TV documentary series of 18 episodes about Finnish people who have prolonged or decided to prolong their working careers, from nurses to entrepreneurs. The programme talks about their motives, about Finnish working places and what keeps these seniors active, about the meaning of leisure time and ageing people as a huge resource in our society.
The series was broadcasted during 2011–12 in the Capital TV main channel TV 1 (YLE Finnish Broadcasting Company) with an audience of 150,000 - 200,000 viewers each time. Each 15 minutes long episode has been aired 3 or 4 times.
Seniors at Work has been created by CultFiction Oy media productions with funding by the Finnish government and pension organisations and it may have a second part.
The programme has contributed to increase the awareness of society about seniors and their value as a positive resource, as people who still want to benefit in common good.
The Association of Finnish Technology Industries chose Seniors at Work as part of its campaign of "Good work, longer working careers".
Seniori Työssä was the winner of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations Award in the category of Journalism - Audio visuals.
Cultfiction is a Tampere-based TV and media production company that produces videos for national TV channels and online platforms.
