Committed to fight the topics surrounding ageing, and within the framework of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, the Age Company presented in 2012 a special contemporary dance performance which counted with the participation of amateur dancers over 50 years old and students from the Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität.
In this intergenerational show entitled “Achtung Deadline” 13 elderly amateur dancers from the company shared the stage with three professional students between 22 and 28 years old. The show talked about time, speed, dreams and things wished to be done before the “deadline”.
The performance was presented on April 2012 in Vienna, at the Palais Kabelwerk, and later on in other federal states of Austria. The production counted with the collaboration of Rupert Huber, who composed the music, and Tom Barcal, who supported the project with his technical and lights work.
Age Company also presented in 2012 a short film which follows the lives of the members of the ensamble over a year and documents what being old means to them.
The brainchild of two associations (Alters Kulturen and Arge Region Kultur), the Age Company currently consists of 13 women between 50 and 73 years old. Together, directed by choreographer Nicole Berndt-Caccivio, they create modern dance performances which are then performed in public.
