Age Management at company level

The association of the Chemical Industry employers in the German State of Hessen (HessenChemie) has introduced a range of innovative solutions to help its members address demographic challenges facing the workforce since 2007.

Innovations include toolkits designed to allow companies to conduct their own demographic analyses; programmes to enhance work-life balance and the compatibility of work with care-giving responsibilities; managerial training on a variety of topics related to an aging workforce; and the incorporation of standards aiming to meet the challenges of an aging society in the industry's collective bargaining agreements.

Between 2008 and 2010, HessenChemie has already held more than 25 workshops, trainings and seminars including "Leadership and Motivation of Employees 50+", and "Qualification and Knowledge Management in the light of Demographic Changes."

During this time it has reached about 600 decision makers in member companies and would like to strengthen this effort in the coming years. HessenChemie is commited to provide further advice on flexible schedules and age-appropriate working conditions  as a knowledge service provider.
