The Citizen Storyteller project was set up by a group of seven young Portuguese filmmakers in the context of the European Year for Active Ageing by looking for senior citizens with a story to tell, people who, at the end of a hard working life, continue looking for ways to feel active and happy.
This initiative consists in collecting the life stories of older people who are determined to keep active, no matter the grief or the loneliness they may have experienced, and who have sought alternative activities which bring them joy in life and keep them active and healthy. These stories can provide very good examples to everyone, especially to those who have given up the fight.
The transmedia part of the project invites the public to submit video contributions with a maximum length of two minutes, allowing people to tell their own story in the first person. A tutorial has been provided onlnine for the purpose. There are no restrictions concerning the video equipment used (mobile phone, professional camera, and others).
This initiative emerges as a means to ensure extended participation in the project and welcome a wider participation
