The Seniors Initiatives Centre will organise a series of interactive fraud awareness seminars for older population as a contribution to the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations.

Kauna’s municipality seniors will be informed about potential fraud situations and where they can get more information or assistance.

Supported by Kaunas City, these seminars will include fraud awareness lectures and materials, tip sheets, discussion groups and feedback forms, pairing seniors and police academy students in talking about mutual concerns such as crime prevention or drug use.

Up to 260 people aged 55-70 will attend the seminars during the year. Consequently local self-help groups will be established and senior guides will be trained according to the methodology developed in Grundtvig multilateral project Senior Guides.

Seminars will be held in 13 wards of Kaunas municipality throughout the year and a conference on fraud awareness and consumer education will be held on October 2012.
