During the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, Pilaites Day Centre, in Vilnius, will implement several initiatives aimed to bring together representatives of diverse generations and to share experiences.

Some of the activities programmed as a commitment with the EY2012 goals are:

  • “Let’s celebrate together.”  On Lithuania’s Day, St. Joseph’s Church Festival, Mothers Day, the International Day of Elderly People and Christmas the centre will celebrate concerts, dances, performances and other activities.
  • “Let’s take care of the environment together.” During 2012 there will be two actions dedicated to plant oaks and other trees.
  • “Dialogue between generations.” Pilaites will celebrate conferences about the “Importance of gymnastics”, “Health way of living”, “Learning of foreign languages”
  • “Playing chess.” There will be two chess tournaments between Pilaites community seniors and young citizens.

Pilaites Day Centre also participated on March 19th at the European Year launch event celebrated in Vilnius and is cooperating with other organizations working with elderly persons to exchange experiences.
