As a special commitment to the European Year 2012, the European Association of Homes and Services for the Ageing (EAHSA) organised an international conference on 27-28 September in Malta with keynote presenters from all over Europe covering a broad spectrum of topics related to active ageing, such as food and dignity, care and dementia, fitness, creativity, innovation and research, and lateral thinking.
The conference was an important platform for exchange and discussion among providers of services, care and housing for the senior sector. The event allowed them to exchange best practices, share research and innovations, and discuss issues and challenges in their sector.
Four breakout sessions delt with partnerships, ageing in place, dementia, and the care spectrum. In addition to important international keynote speakers, the Prime Minister of Malta, Lawrence Gonzi, opened the conference and John Dalli, European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy, concluded the event with his closing speech.
