On the occasion of the European Year for Active Ageing 2012, Aktios commits to serving as a training centre for students and health professionals, as well as to organising regular educative seminars and speeches to present a dynamic and holistic approach to elderly care which will help set new standards in Greece for quality care provided to seniors.
Aktios Elderly Care Unit will organise in 2012 at least 6 groups of indoor activities on a daily basis as well as regular outdoor activities such as the participation in community events and programmed excursions for coffee breaks, visiting museums and archaeological sites.
These activities will be carried out for the development and enhancement of the individual and the residents' social skills. The organisation of multiple activity groups for seniors suffering from dementia will consist of cognitive reinforcement exercises, physio-therapeutic training as well as entertainment and relaxation groups.
The programme’s creation will be based on previous assessments of the residents, on their levels of communication, functionality and daily living and self service abilities.
Aktios S.A. operates two nursing care units in Athens, Greece, and is a member of MD-Nursing, a European chain specialised in establishing and organising health centres for elderly people suffering from dementia.
