Demochange – Demographic Change in the Alps

Austria Austria Austria Austria Austria 09/2010-09/2012

Austria / Germany / Slovenia / Italy / Switzerland

Demochange is a collaborative project in which 13 institutions from the Alpine space-area (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Italy) work together analysing the demographic trends and ageing population of the region.

The aim is to analyse the demographic future of model regions and, based on this information, to elaborate specific measures and implement pilot actions.

Those actions are focusing on topics which are mainly relevant in terms of regional development and spatial planning, such as: adequate housing for elder people and young families, adaptation of infrastructure, public services and touristic products and integration of immigrants.

The results gained will provide general adaptation strategies for spatial plans and regional development programmes, particularly for the Alpine regions.

The final conference of the project will be held Krajnska Gora, Austria, from 26 -27 September 2012.
