Description

The Council will discuss Tunisia, Belarus, Lebanon and Côte d'Ivoire. A short discussion is foreseen on freedom of religion or belief.
Other issues taken up in the Council will be Sahel and Sudan. The Council may adopt conclusions
on some of these issues.

Over dinner, Ministers will have a discussion on strategic partners focusing on Russia.
Furthermore over dinner, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy,
Catherine Ashton, will report back from her meeting with the Iranian nuclear negotiator in Istanbul, and on her recent trip in the Middle East ahead of the next Quartet meeting on 5 February.

A background briefing will be held in the Council press room a few days before the meeting.
A press conference will take place at the end of the proceedings.
