Maltese-language translators

Don't just translate words. Translate ideas.

The European Institutions are looking for Maltese-language translators.

World-class translators are central to everything we do. The language services of the European Institutions have a crucial role to play in strengthening communication and helping citizens understand the role of the EU in their everyday lives. Working to strict deadlines, they translate political, legal, financial, scientific and technical texts and provide wide-ranging linguistic advice.

Are you looking for intellectually challenging work with a high degree of sensitivity and responsibility? Are you trained as a translator or able to demonstrate excellent translation skills? Do you have degree-level education, a perfect command of Maltese and a thorough knowledge of at least two other EU languages, one of which is English, French or German? Then read on to find out how you can build an EU translator career.

Open for applications on: 11 July 2013
Deadline for applications: 13 August 2013, 12.00 (Brussels time)

Jeantide

"Permezz ta' xogħli dejjem inkun minn tal-ewwel li nsir naf dwar dak li jkun qed iseħħ fl-UE u dan it-tagħrif nista' nipprovdih liċ-ċittadini Maltin bil-Malti."

Reuben

"Bħala traduttur fis-Servizz Lingwistiku tal-Kunsill tal-UE, jeħtieġ li nkun flessibbli kemm jista' jkun. Id-dokumenti li ta' kuljum jaslu fl-unità tagħna huma kurrenti ħafna, u jirriflettu dak li jkun għaddej fid-diskussjonijiet u d-deċiżjonijiet fil-livell tal-Kunsill tal-UE u f'dak Ewropew inġenerali. Hemm firxa wiesgħa ta' dokumenti li nittrattaw (ta' natura legali, ekonomika, finanzjarja, xjentifika, eċċ.) u din il-varjetà tgħin biex f'xogħli nitgħallem u nżid l-għarfien tiegħi f'diversi oqsma. Għalhekk, ma nistax ngħid li hemm xi enfasi tematika partikolari, minħabba li, kif ngħidu bil-Malti, jeħtieġ li tkun taf naqra minn kollox."
