Delegation of the EU to the Republic of Croatia: Multimedia Exhibition “I am the citizen of the EU”

The marking of the 14th European Week started with opening of the exhibition ‘I am the citizen of the EU’. Europe Week is an event dedicated to marking of 9 May – Europe day – in Croatia. This year's European Week was focused on the European Year of Citizens. It was opened by Ambassador Paul Vandoren, Head of the EU Delegation to Croatia, and First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Vesna Pusić.
In his speech at the opening, ambassador Vandoren underlined the special significance of this year's Europe Week: the fact that it was taking place just before Croatia's EU accession scheduled for 1 July. He added that the EU membership was bringing to Croatia numerous opportunities and challenges for which the country should prepare.

First Deputy Prime Minister Pusić said that we were only 56 days away from the EU membership and that twelve years of "concentrated work" on building and stabilisation of institutions and government were behind us. She underlined that it was important to perceive the EU as a space that we develop together with our friends and partners.

The exhibition ‘I am the citizen of the EU’ gives its visitors an opportunity to obtain information on their rights and possibilities in the EU in a simple and interactive way. Besides in Zagreb, the exhibition will also be organised in Split (Riva, from 22-25 May), Osijek (Trg Ante Starčevića, from 5-8 June) and in Rijeka (Korzo, from 12-16 June, 2013).

As part of Europe Week, the EU Delegation has also organised European Film Days in cooperation with Cultural Club. This film review is taking place until 11 May, 2013, in Zagreb, Rijeka, Pula, Split, Novska and Dubrovnik.

The Delegation was also organising the third Rhythm of Europe concert, taking place of Friday, 10 May, with participation of Gibonni, Belfast Food and Kopito.

Europe Week ended on 11 May, 2013, with the traditional celebration of Europe Day on Zagreb's Cvjetni Trg, organised by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

All the activities are open for citizens and the admission is free. Visitors will be able to participate in a prize game that will give then an opportunity to win a trip to Brussels in early July 2013.
