The Europe Direct Information Centre of Komotini and the Young European Federalists of Komotini will be holding an event entitled "Citizens' Step Up: Why Europe? Which Europe? " on Monday may 27, 2013 at the Archaeological Museum of Komotini.
Citizens' Step is an innovative way of communication and exchange of views among young people, having its roots in ancient Greece. The aim is to try simulating how the ancient Agora worked. The event Citizens' Step Up- Why Europe, Which Europe? will focus on democracy, active citizenship and employment. In this context, young people will have the opportunity to speak in public debate and to express themselves whether they feel that their voice is heard in Europe and consider how democratic it is, what should be the role of civil society and whether they believe that the European Union should adopt more concrete policies for employment, which in principle is a matter of the Member States. After the end of the interventions an open discussion will follow. The event takes place on the occasion of the anniversary of 9 may-Europe day and aims to create debate networks and enable young people, as 2013 has been declared as the European year of Citizens, but also in view of the European elections of 2014.
