The hip hop project was published for the first time after a press conference where „Skamp" presented the new project. Almost every well-known Lithuanian website and lifestyle journal participated in the conference.
Moreover, „Skamp" created a video and audio invitation for people, where group members rapped the contest's rules. Radio station ZIP FM also helped because this station addresses a young audience and only this station has special show for hip hop. This advertisement widely spread through Facebook and got attention from more than half of Facebook users in Lithuania.
Participants had to rap about EU citizens' rights and Europe in the future. The winners had a chance to record a song with „Skamp" and to create a video clip together. This song will also become a new European Year of Citizens hymn.
Several years in row European yearly hymns have been created. However, this year the hymn was special because it is the first year when everyone was invited to participate in the contest and contribute to the song. The idea was to involve citizens in discussions about EU citizens' rights and Europe in the future. Participants had to create lyrics about this topic consisting of 12 lines. Then, they had to film a video clip of up to 2 minutes. Performances had to be done in a hip hop style.
The contest lasted until 1 June. The European Commission Representation received many applications and it was difficult to select the best songs. Three winners have been chosen after a vote.
„Skamp“ has created one song from winners entries and named it „We’re All in This Together“. The song was communicated as the anthem of the European Year of Citizens and presented live in various festivals in Lithuania. The launch of the video clip http://youtu.be/LKa5ynR8_HE happened on national TV morning programme and biggest news portal in Lithuania. Some famous people such us journalists, actors took part in filming of the video clip.
Project partners: Active youth and Eurodesk, which organized European Youth Week in Lithuania where people learned how to rap and discussed Europe in the future. Europe direct and Team Europe Junior helped to publish this contest during Europe Day events in Lithuania.
