Students, professionals brush up on EU rights in Brno

EU-wide services, activities and programmes were on display for all to access at the Gaudeamus Education Fair in Brno on 5-8 November 2013. The fair focuses mainly on providing high school students and graduates with a wealth of information for their futures, as well as much information for high school educational professionals.

Visitors to the fair could access information on a wide range of topics including EU citizens’ rights with special focus on rights and opportunities for students, graduates and study-seekers. Visitors were provided with information on the European Voluntary Service (EVS), on Erasmus programmes, as well as internships in EU institutions.

To highlight the European Year of Citizens 2013, there was a stand for The European Commission Representation in Czech Republic, and their partners organised a quiz competition for students. Winners received promotional materials of the European Year of Citizens 2013 for correctly answered questions related to the EU. Expert staff from the European Commission Representation in the Czech Republic, representatives from the information center Europe Direct Brno and The Centre for Citizens Education of Masaryk’s University provided specialised information to the visitors.

The Gaudeamus Education Fair in Brno is the one of the best known education and study shows in central Europe. As well as Brno, the Fair is also held in Prague and Nitra (Slovakia) with more than 40,000 visitors each year from the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
