Paola Costa, 36, is an entrepreneur originally from Rome. She is founder of Orientalmente, an academy specialising in teaching Chinese language and culture by video conference, through a technological platform linking students across the world with qualified Chinese teachers.
Orientalmente is a young startup firm that is rapidly growing, thanks to its innovative activity model. In 2012 the academy received Google’s ‘Euronews Business Award’. A graduate in Political Science, Paola worked for three years in Shanghai as head of the department of Italian Wines in a Franco-Chinese trading company, and after that she exercised her EU right to study abroad, moving to Barcelona where she studied a Masters degree in Marketing.
Thanks to a scholarship from the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX), Paola had the opportunity to study a Masters in International Business Managment and Trade in Madrid. She later worked as a market analyst in the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Taipei (Taiwan) and at the Hong Kong headquarters of a Spanish bank.
