European Parliament : « The Citizens Wall » at Brussels south rail station ("Gare du Midi")

From Monday 15 April at 7.30 to Wednesday 17 April at 16.00 an animated video wall at Brussels south rail station ("Gare du Midi") will feature people's portraits posted to the "citizen's wall" on Facebook. The display is one of the European Parliament's contributions to the 2013 European Year of Citizens, which aims to highlight European citizens' rights.

The animated wall is a follow-up to an online citizens' wall, made of participants' photos and "EU values" sent via Facebook from 18 March to 4 April.

European Year of Citizens

Marking the twentieth anniversary of the creation of European citizenship, 2013 has been designated "European Year of Citizens". The European Union treaties grant rights to all citizens, including, for example, to move to and live freely in another member state, to vote and to stand as a candidate in European and local elections, or to petition the European Parliament.

The European Year of Citizens therefore aims to highlight these rights, given that many people in the EU are not fully aware of them.
