European citizens' initiative: Let Me Vote

The European Union has declared 2013 the “European Year of Citizens”, highlighting the 20th birthday of the Maastricht Treaty, which gave birth to European citizenship. This project aims to raise Europeans’ awareness of and interest in their rights, so that they can fully benefit from them and get involved more actively in the EU.

In that context, the European Citizens’ Initiative Let Me Vote! aims to bring the citizens even closer to the political processes by extending the current political rights of the European citizens.

The idea is to enable all citizens to participate in all elections in their country of residence, including regional and national ones. Let Me Vote! needs to collect one million signatures in a minimum of 7 countries in significant numbers (e.g. 16.500 votes in Belgium).
