What does it mean to be a European citizen? Join the discussion with MEPs | Milton Keynes (United Kingdom)

Questions like “What does it mean to be a European citizen, or what are an EU citizen’s rights?” form an important part of debate across Europe throughout 2013.

Bringing this into sharp focus in the UK is the Enacting European Citizenship book launch and dialogue event 19 September 2013, at The Open University, Milton Keynes.

The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), The Open University and Community Service Volunteers (CSV), in partnership with the European Parliament, have prepared this opportunity for citizens' dialogue among local people, the civil sector and Members of the European Parliament.

The book by Engin F. Isin and Michael Saward considers European citizenship as one of the major challenges to European integration when examining case studies from a wide variety of citizens such as Roma, Sinti, Kurds, sex workers, youth etc.

The book’s analysis explores the limitations and possibilities of European citizenship. Supporting the book launch is an afternoon programme of discussion and debate with MEPs, academics and stakeholder groups.
