Irish Deaf Society is proud to be the host for the annual EUD Workshop, Seminar and General Assembly, which will be held at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry, Dublin 9 from 16 to 19 May 2013.
Dublin was chosen as the host city for the annual EUD General Assembly due to Ireland holding the current Presidency of the EU. EUD staff are working in close co-operation with the Irish Deaf Society (IDS) to organise the events. Over 130 people from 31 EUD member and affiliated member countries will announce their arrival in Dublin shortly. There will be many different events during the four-day programme. On the first day, there will be two workshops for official EUD delegates. Details of the two workshops will be finalised by the Board of EUD shortly. On the second day, there will be the annual EUD seminar entitled "Deaf Citizens in the EU – what does it means to them". We are focusing on Citizenship, as 2013 is the European Year for Citizenship. The seminar is organised jointly by EUD and the Irish Deaf Society and is open for all everyone who is interested. Registration is required beforehand. The EUD annual General Assembly will take place on 18 and 19 May, where delegates and the Board will discuss about the achievement of EUD's work programme and also other crucial events that will affect, directly or indirectly the Deaf Community. Also The European Union of the Deaf (EUD) will hold elections for the Board in 2013 which consist of a President, a Vice-President, and three Board Members. All candidates will be elected at the General Assembly in Dublin.
