“Bridges to Europe” – usually celebrated in the second week of May – offers an opportunity for Venezuelans to glimpse a few of Europe's political, social, cultural and economic realities.
Organised jointly by European embassies and cultural institutes and Venezuela's main university, UCV, the event offers locals a wide range of activities including debates, concerts, poetry evenings, special film showings followed by discussions, and language courses.
One of the highlights of the week-long celebration will be a simulation of a European council summit meeting and its delicate negotiations, with the representatives of EU countries played by students of the UCV's faculty of international relations. Logistic support and coaching will be provided by the European embassies, coordinated by the EU office (delegation) in Venezuela. A quiz on Europe will also be held, with prizes including free tickets, language courses and books.
An excellent opportunity to present the dynamic, ever-changing face of the EU to an eager audience in Venezuela.
