Euro-Bangla food fusion
Other
If there is one thing that Europe and Bangladesh have in common, it is their rich culinary traditions. Put them together, and you have a fusion feast, fit to fete the EU's 50th birthday.
The menu will emerge from a fusion recipe and cooking competition on the anniversary date itself: 25 March, when the contestants – all chefs in training – submit recipes combining European and Bangladeshi cooking traditions. The students that come up with the best “fusion” recipes will prepare their dish in a live cooking final on May 6.
The competition is organised by renowned Bangladesh chef Tommy Miah’s Institute of Hospitality Management in partnership with the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (national tourism board) and the European Commission’s Delegation. It will be judged by the EU ambassadors to Bangladesh, the local representatives of United News Bangladesh and Agence France Press, Anjit Gomes of the Parjatan Corporation, and Tommy Miah himself. The winning recipe will be served to all the guests at the EU mission's Europe day reception on May 9.
